How we stay safe during COVID-19

We are taking every precaution we can while still maintaining as much normalcy as possible for our small students. For starters, we follow the guidelines set forth by Washington State DCYF. We will be going above and beyond with additional measures.

Staff: Staff will complete an infectious disease training which will provide instruction for identifying COVID-19 symptoms, review the cleaning/disinfecting procedures, and screening students when arriving at school. Teachers will wear face coverings while with students. Teachers will be screened upon arrival.

Drop off and pick up: We will be limiting the number of people that will enter the building. Students, staff, and other scheduled visitors will be allowed to enter the facility. Parents will check children in and out through the iCare app. Parents will answer the health questions and students will have their temperature taken by a staff member. Any person with a temperature of 100.4 or above will not be allowed to stay at school.

Face Coverings and Social Distancing: All children, parents and staff over the age of 5 will be required to have a face mask. We will provide masks for those who do not have one. Children will wear face masks while they are in the classroom and unable to keep the proper physical distancing. We will follow the state requirements for face masks as well as the exceptions in situations as laid out by the CDC and health department.

Hygiene: Students will wash their hands upon entering the school and through-out the day. Hand sanitizer will be used when a sink with soap and water is not available.

Assembly: Students love to join their friends in assembly each morning. It has been an important start to our day. This school year, we will provide a time for each class to have assembly time while limiting the number of students that gather at one time. Consistent with the state guidelines.

Sanitizing and general cleaning: Teachers will disinfect their areas on a regular basis with extra attention to high touch areas. Staff will also provide the same cleaning for common areas of the school such as the lobby/entry area, playgrounds and hallways.

Personal Items: All students will bring a backpack to school which will be placed in an individual cubby. Full day preschool students may bring 1 blanket and 1 item (stuffed animal) for nap time which will be stored in an individual container. Lunches/snacks will be kept in their individual backpack until the time it is needed.

Classroom setup: Each learning area will be limited to 2 students at a time and will be sanitized in between use. Each student will have an individual box with classroom materials so that they are not sharing supplies.

Extended Day students: If your child attends before school (7am-9am) or after school (3pm-5pm), please ring the doorbell and a staff member will assist you.

Health monitoring: Through-out the day, if a student shows any signs of COVID-19 symptoms, they will be taken to a separate area to be evaluated. If we believe that the symptoms are consistent with COVID-19 symptoms a parent will be notified and the student will wait in the designated area until they are picked up. All areas that the student was in contact with will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

More COVID-19: If a student has been in contact with a person who has contracted COVID-19 or has been sent home with symptoms the student and siblings attending school must provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test or wait 14 days to return to school. If a student has contracted COVID-19 parents must notify the school. The student and siblings may not return for at least 14 days AND have documentation of a negative COVID-19 test. All families of students in contact with the student will be notified and students who are in the same class must provide a negative COVID-19 test or stay home for 14 days.
